Mr. Berg is currently scheduled to teach a portion of the

curriculum for the following courses:

Riverside County Sheriff's Department (Clark Training Center):

       Intermediate Collision Investigation (Skidmark Analysis)

Principles of Investigating Low-Speed Impacts

       Speed Determination From Crush Analysis

Information regarding the following courses can be obtained from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department (Clark Training Center).  They can be contacted by telephone at (951) 486-2800, or on the web.

Principles of Investigating Low-Speed Impacts

Investigation of the low-speed or minor impact from the basics of the initial investigation through the litigation process. Topics include vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, interviewing, photography, Newtonian physics relating to low-speed impacts, low-speed impact equations, biomechanics and mechanisms of injuries, and preparations to be an expert witness. One day is devoted to controlled, instrumented vehicle testing, with the dissemination of information and analysis of testing data to follow. The course should benefit individuals involved in investigation, claims and litigation related to low-speed collisions and/or fraud-type investigations.

Date/Time:  To Be Announced.

Traffic Collision Investigation: Intermediate (Skidmark)

A course in the fundamentals of skidmark analysis and documentation which helps students develop advanced skills in accident investigation. The course includes a practical exercise. The class is designed to help students improve their mathematics skills which is necessary for the advanced accident investigation course.

PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of a basic traffic accident investigation course.

Date/Time:  To Be Announced

Location: Clark Training Center

Speed Determination From Crush Analysis

Analyzing crush deformation and the procedures for measuring vehicles involved in collisions for vehicle profile, crush deformation and PDOF. The principles of the A, B, and G stiffness coefficients are also discussed. Students learn how to calculate these coefficients, as well as the energy from crush, utilizing a two-, four-, and six-point crush deformation equation. Additionally, students learn methods and appropriate energy/momentum equations for determining vehicle impact speeds in head-on (collinear) collisions. P.O.S.T. certified, Plan IV.
